March 2018

Snowed in!

Posted on

Well what a start to the year, our first wedding was in January, a couple who
came all the way from North Wales with their family.

We have had several Open Days which gives everyone a chance to sit and chat
through what they are looking for and see if we are right for them. We have
met lots of lovely couples and many are now already booked for 2019.

As the owner I am busy getting maintenance work done and making sure the
place is at its best for the season. We have put in planning to get a link
between the barn and the function room which will be very useful on days
where it might rain!!

Rain in Wales, never, ha ha! Today however we certainly have the snow in full
force. The worst thing was the wind which means the snow has drifted and yes
I cannot get out of my gate! Anyone got a shovel?

The new thing for 2018 is that we are planning other events. We are having an
acoustic afternoon tea on Mothers Day the 11 th March which is proving
successful, it is then followed by us opening on Easter Sunday.
Please call to book or get further details.

We are also taking bookings for private parties and conference days.
A lot of people were sad when we closed the café so we are looking to do
various things that means the public can use the venue once again on different

New Year, new look!

Well I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by!  I am very excited about our new website and the fact that I will be able to ‘blog’ frequently. I’ve already been looking at the new trends on colours for this year and wondering what colours our couples have chosen.

We are also looking forward to our open day on Sunday 14th January opening from 11-4.  Myself, Jill the Venue Owner, and Les the Event Catering Manager, will be there to answer any questions you may have.  Its a lovely informal event with tea and coffee readily flowing.  The marquee itself will not be set up until May, however we have lots of photos so you can get a feel, and we also show you exactly where it will be, so you can imagine yourself sitting there with a glass of prosecco in hand.

We will also have luxury handcrafted fudge samples from our local supplier FWDGE, to try for Wedding favours – it would be great if you could help us sample them as sometimes we sample a bit too much!! I have never tasted fudge like it and I’m hoping my favourite lemon cheesecake or gin & tonic makes an appearance. In fact Catrin @FWDGE can make any flavour you desire, she loves a challenge!

Well, that’s it from me! This is short and sweet, as I am currently replying to lots of e-mails from gorgeous newly engaged couples.
